Win Total Wednesdays: AFC South Odds & Trends

Welcome back to our third Win Total Wednesday, where we are diving into the current odds and trends of NFL win totals. After previously looking at the AFC East and AFC North, we are moving on to the AFC South.

As of June 3, the AFC South teams have made up 8% of the total number of bets and 6% of the total dollars wagered of all win total bets placed at William Hill.

The Houston Texans won the AFC South with a 10-6 record last season, the fourth time in five years they’ve finished atop the division. Nonetheless, William Hill bettors are the most pessimistic about the Texans surpassing their win total this time around compared to the rest of the AFC South.

The Texans’ win total dropped from 8 to 7.5, as Houston is the only AFC South team that has seen its win total decrease from the opening number. Additionally, the Texans’ under has captured 66% of the total number of tickets and 86% of the total dollars wagered, both of which lead the division.

The largest AFC South win total wager placed this offseason has also come in on the Texans under. One New Jersey bettor put down $651.67 on Texans under 8 (-130) that could end up as a potential total payout of $1,152.80.

On the other hand, the Indianapolis Colts are the only AFC South team to have its win total increase from the opening number, shifting from 8.5 to 9. The Colts’ over has received 67% of the total number of tickets and 77% of the total dollars wagered, leading the division in both categories.

The Colts’ win total has also attracted an AFC South-leading 31% of the total number of tickets within the division, yet the Texans’ win total leads the way with 50% of the total dollars wagered for all AFC South win total bets.

The Jaguars have William Hill’s lowest NFL win total at 4.5, and bettors are split on it. While 63% of the total number of tickets have come in on the under, the over has grabbed 60% of the total dollars wagered.

The Titans (8.5) have also caused a divide on their win total. It’s a 50%-50% split regarding total dollars wagered, although 63% of the total number of tickets have been on the over.
