Pro Baseball Win Totals: AL Central Odds, Trends

Bet baseball with William Hill, America’s #1 sportsbook.

We are nearly three weeks away from Opening Day, so it’s time to check out how William Hill bettors have been wagering on the 2021 MLB regular season win totals. After starting off with the American League East, we move on to the American League Central.

The AL Central is home to two of the most popular MLB win total over bets as of now at William Hill, as well as two of the biggest divides between total number of tickets and total dollars wagers among William Hill bettors.

The White Sox and Twins are tied for the highest win total in the division, as each club sits at 89.5. Chicago actually was first listed at 90.5 before dropping by a win, while Minnesota hasn’t budged from its 89.5 opener.

The other three teams have had increases from their original number. In fact, the Royals’ win total is tied for the biggest change in MLB, jumping from 71 to 73.5. The Athletics and Cardinals’ win totals have also shifted by 2.5, but in the opposite direction (88.5 to 86 for Oakland, 88 to 85.5 for St. Louis). Meanwhile, the Tigers have gone from 66 to 67.5 and the Indians have moved from 81 to 81.5.

So why the notable increases for the Royals and Tigers? The Royals’ win total over has attracted 92% of the total number of tickets, which only trails Mariners’ over (71.5) at 93% for all of baseball. Kansas City has also received 84% of the total dollars wagered on its over. Additionally, Kansas City’s win total has drawn the third-most money thus far at William Hill, behind the Dodgers (103.5) and Cardinals.

The Tigers’ win total over also ranks second in MLB, but in total dollars wagered. Detroit’s over has generated 98% of the total dollars wagered along with 74% of the total number of tickets. The Angels’ over (83.5) is the only one to surpass Detroit’s in total dollars wagered at 99%.

William Hill bettors are quite optimistic on the Twins besting their win total too, as Minnesota’s over has grabbed 75% of the total number of tickets and 89% of the total dollars wagered.

Only three MLB win totals have seen their over capture at least 80% of the total number of tickets, yet their under has gotten the majority of the total dollars wagered: the White Sox, Indians and Cardinals.

Chicago’s over has seized 83% of the total number of tickets, however that under has the advantage with 63% of the total dollars wagered. That is highlighted by one Nevada bettor who placed $5,500 on White Sox under 90 (-110) for a total potential payout of $10,500, which is the largest 2021 MLB win total bet taken so far at William Hill.

William Hill bettors are also split on Cleveland’s win total, as the over has snagged 84% of the total number of tickets and the under has the slight edge in total dollars wagered at 51%.
