UFC Fight Night Odds, Trends: Bettors Siding With Underdog in Main Event

We’re just one week away from a monster UFC 252 card, and there’s still plenty of excitement in store for tomorrow’s UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Oleinik at UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

The main event is a heavyweight showdown between No. 4-ranked Derrick Lewis and No. 10-ranked Aleksei Oleinik. After opening as a -275 favorite at William Hill, Lewis is down to -200 while Oleinik resides at +175.

William Hill bettors are siding with the underdog in the headliner, as Oleinik has received 69% of the total number of tickets and 81% of the total dollars wagered. That includes one Nevada bettor putting down $1,200 on Oleinik back when he was priced at +235 for a total potential payout of $4,020.

There have been several line shifts for tomorrow’s fights, though one prelim match has had the most significant movement. Justin Jaynes opened at +175 in a featherweight bout vs. Gavin Tucker, yet Jaynes is currently listed at even-money odds.

Jaynes has captured 83% of the total number of tickets and 95% of the total dollars wagered, ranking second in both among all fighters on the card.

Only Youssef Zalal, who is tied as the biggest favorite tomorrow night at -430 vs. Peter Barrett, currently surpasses Jaynes in both categories at 88% and 98% respectively. Zalal has also attracted the largest wager for the event thus far at William Hill, as another Nevada bettor put down $4,100 on Zalal -410 for a total potential payout of $5,100.

Other noteworthy wagers taken at William Hill have come in on other underdogs on the card. A pair of $2,000 wagers have come in on Alex Munoz at +200 for a total potential payout of $6,600 as well as Maki Pitolo +160 (who is now at +135) for a total potential payout of $5,200.
