Total Thursdays: Pro Football Week 3 Odds, Trends for Totals

Overs went 11-5 in Week 2 of the NFL season, meaning they’ve cashed in 20 of 32 games this season (62.5%). In Week 3, four games have a total in the 50s, including one NFC matchup that has the highest total of any game so far this season at William Hill.

“The first couple of weeks, there’s been plenty of points scored,” said Nick Bogdanovich, Director of Trading for William Hill US. “We always want to be on the higher side of totals for sure with the masses loving to play the over.”

Cowboys vs. Seahawks currently has a total of 56, followed by Lions vs. Cardinals at 55. Then, the final two contests of Week 3 also have surpassed 50, with Packers vs. Saints on Sunday night currently residing at 52.5 and the epic Monday night showdown of Chiefs vs. Ravens sitting at 54.

With all of the recent high-scoring affairs early on this NFL season, how have William Hill bettors been approaching Week 3’s totals?

As of Thursday afternoon, every Week 3 game’s over has received the majority of the total number of tickets. The Packers vs. Saints over leads the way with 89% of the total number of tickets, while the Jets vs. Colts over (44) is barely the preferred side thus far with 51% of the total number of tickets.

Twelve of the 16 games are also getting the majority of the total dollars wagered. Three different overs have generated at least 90% of the total dollars wagered: Titans vs. Vikings (49) at 97%, Lions vs. Cardinals at 96% and Texans vs. Steelers (45) at 90%.

Four contests, however, are seeing a good amount of action on their unders. The Washington vs. Browns (44.5) under ranks first by getting 91% in that category, with the Jets vs. Colts under right behind at 83%.

The biggest Week 3 total bet thus far has come in on the Thursday night game. A Nevada bettor placed $5,500 on Dolphins vs. Jaguars under 48 (-110) for a total potential payout of $10,500. No Week 3 total has shifted as much as Dolphins vs. Jaguars, moving 3.5 points from its 45 opener to its current number of 48.5.
