Playoff Preview: Odds, Trends for Bucks vs. Hawks G4

Bet NBA with William Hill, America’s #1 sportsbook.

The Hawks are looking to tie the Eastern Conference Finals up at home in tonight’s Game 4. But how do William Hill bettors think they’ll fare with their star player at less than 100% against the Bucks?

All eyes are on Trae Young ahead of Game 4’s tip at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT on TNT. Atlanta’s sharpshooting guard is listed as questionable after suffering a bone bruise in his foot. Young sprained his ankle in the third quarter of Game 3 and briefly went back to the locker room before returning for the fourth quarter.

“I’m expecting Young to play, it’s just a matter of how effective he’s going to be,” said Nick Bogdanovich, Director of Trading for William Hill US. “I’d say the difference between him if he’s hurt tonight and when he’s healthy is I guess worth about 2.5-3 points. It’s just a bruise, but we’ll see if he can play well through the pain.”

The Bucks pulled away in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s Game 3, outscoring the Hawks 30-17 over that period en route to a 113-102 triumph in Atlanta. Kris Middleton led the way with 38 points, with 20 of them coming in that fourth quarter.

Now Milwaukee (-260 on the moneyline) is a 6.5-point road favorite over Atlanta (+220 ML). While the spread has increased by half a point from its opening number, the total has gone down to 218.5 from 221.5.

“Right now we’re high on minus the points,” Bogdanovich said. “Opened it Bucks -6, went up to -7, and now back to -6.5. Bucks winning by 5 or less would be perfect for us. The Bucks looked great in Game 2 and took over when Young got hurt in Game 3. The public always leans towards the minus anyway, but with how the Bucks have looked, I’m not surprised they’re laying the points here.”

The majority of William Hill bettors think that Milwaukee will gain a 3-1 series lead and cover the number while doing so. The Bucks have generated 65% of the total number of tickets and 67% of the total dollars wagered among all spread bets against the Hawks, as well as 55% of the total number of tickets and 59% of the total dollars wagered for all moneyline wagers.

The action on the total has been mostly on the under as of now, with it grabbing 57% of the total number of tickets and 82% of the total dollars wagered.
