NHL Western Conference Futures Odds, Trends: Golden Knights Generating Big Interest

Once the NHL resumes its season, 24 teams will lace up their skates in pursuit of the Stanley Cup. After looking at William Hill’s odds and trends for 2019-20 Eastern Conference futures, it’s time to move out west.

The Golden Knights lead the way at 5/2 odds to win the Western Conference, with the Avalanche (13/4) and the defending champion Blues (4/1) lurking close behind. William Hill bettors, though, have been backing the favorite at a very high clip.

Vegas has received 27% of the total number of bets and 23% of the total dollars wagered for 2019-20 Western Conference futures, which leads all teams in each category.

The Avalanche have also been a popular wager, as Colorado ranks second in both total number of tickets (12%) and total dollars wagered (14%).

Going down the board, there are some longshots that have attracted big bets.

The Blackhawks currently have the longest odds at 35/1 to win the Western Conference, however one New Jersey bettor will be hoping for a Cinderella story this postseason. A $2,025 wager was placed on Blackhawks 20/1, which would have a total payout of $42,525 if Chicago reaches the Stanley Cup.

The Canucks are tied for the sixth-lowest odds at 16/1, yet Vancouver has drawn 13% of the total dollars wagered, which is the third-highest percentage. One Nevada bettor put down $1,000 on Canucks 30/1 for a potential total payout of $31,000, while another Nevada bettor placed $2,000 on Canucks 9/1 for a potential total payout of $20,000.
