The calendar has flipped to July, meaning that the NBA is planning to come back at the end of the month.
Twenty-two teams are making the trip down to Orlando, and will first be partaking in eight “seeding games” to determine playoff positioning. William Hill has odds up for 12 contests taking place from July 30 to August 1.
A pair of Western Conference contenders, the Jazz and Pelicans, will tip things off on Thursday, July 30. Despite being tied for 10th place in the standings, New Orleans is a 2-point favorite over fourth-place Utah after opening at -1.
The Clippers and Lakers are also slated to face off in the NBA’s first night back—a showdown between two of the three teams with the lowest odds at William Hill to win this season’s title.
The Lakers are currently a 1.5-point favorite over their intracity rivals after this contest opened at a pick’em, with the total listed at 219. The Lakers are also scheduled to face the defending champion Raptors on August 1, and Los Angeles is 4-point chalk in that affair.
The Clippers also play on August 1, where they are 5.5-point favorites over the Pelicans. That is tied for the biggest line on any of the July 30-August 1 games, as the Bucks are also -5.5 against the Celtics on July 31. The Bucks are currently atop the Eastern Conference standings, and are 9.5 games ahead of third-place Boston.
