Monday Night Pro Football Odds & Trends: PIT-NYG, TEN-DEN

Week 1 of the NFL season concludes tonight with not one, but two Monday Night Football games on ESPN.

In the early showdown at 7:15 p.m. ET/4:15 p.m. PT, the Steelers are 6-point road favorites (-260 moneyline) at William Hill against the Giants with the total at 45. In the nightcap at 10:10 p.m. ET/7:10 p.m. PT, the Titans are favored by 3 points (-160 ML) in Denver vs. the Broncos and the total sits at 41.

When Week 1 odds were first released, the Steelers and Broncos opened as 3-point and 2.5-point favorites respectively.

“That Tennessee-Denver number moved after the Von Miller injury news that he’s out for a while,” said Nick Bogdanovich, Director of Trading for William Hill US. “There already was Tennessee money on that game anyway, the Titans are coming off an AFC title game and Denver hasn’t cracked .500 in a few years.”

With the line movement shifting in the direction of the current MNF favorites, have William Hill bettors still been backing the Steelers and Titans?

“All of the money is on Pittsburgh and Tennessee tonight,” Bogdanovich said. “If even one of the two home underdogs can pull off the win, I’d be very happy.”

The Steelers have attracted 69% of the total number of tickets and 73% of the total dollars wagered among all spread wagers for tonight against the Giants. The Steelers/Giants under has received 58% of the total number of tickets and 74% of the total dollars wagered among all total bets in that game.

The largest bet taken at William Hill thus far for either MNF game, however, has actually come in on the Giants. A Nevada bettor placed $13,000 on Giants +7 (-135) for a total potential payout of $22,629.60.

In the latter contest, the Titans have drawn 75% of the total number of tickets and 73% of the total dollars wagered among all spread bets vs. the Broncos.

For the total, while the over has generated 66% of the total number of tickets, the under has brought in 74% of the total dollars wagered. That includes another Nevada bettor putting down $10,000 on Titans/Broncos under 41 (-110) for a total potential payout of $19,090.90.
