Monday Night Pro Football: Minnesota vs. Chicago Preview

Bet NFL with William Hill, America’s #1 sportsbook.

It’s not too often that you see an NFL team with a losing record favored by a field goal against a team with a winning record. It’s even more rare to see an NFL team with a losing record favored by a field goal against a team with a winning record… on the road.

That is the case for tonight’s NFC North affair, as the Vikings (3-5) are 3-point road favorites at William Hill over the Bears (5-4) in Chicago.

“This line is just based off current form,” said Nick Bogdanovich, Director of Trading for William Hill US. “The Vikings have two impressive wins in a row, including one in Green Bay. Chicago is Chicago: not great, not bad, vanilla on offense, good defense.”

Minnesota opened as a 1.5-point road favorite before the line shot up 1.5 points in its favor. The Vikings moneyline now sits at -175, while the Bears are +155 to win the game outright.

“It’s a big game, especially with the extra playoff spot this year,” said Bogdanovich. “Chicago can further entrench themselves in the playoff talk, and Minny can get back into it. What this game will come down to I think is simple, can Dalvin Cook run on the Bears defense? The Bears hang their hat on their defense and Minny likes to pound the ball with Cook and [Alexander] Mattison. So we’ll see what gives.”

With such a tight spread, William Hill bettors are divided on who will come out on top in Chicago. The Vikings are bringing in 60% of the total number of tickets and 65% of the total dollars wagered for all spread bets vs. the Bears. Yet, Chicago is receiving 56% of the total number of tickets and 62% of the total dollars wagered for all moneyline bets tonight.

The biggest bet in this contest is on the road favorite. A Nevada bettor placed $50,000 on Vikings -3 (EVEN) for a total potential payout of $100,000. Meanwhile, another Nevada bettor placed $24,000 on Bears +3 (EVEN) for a total potential payout of $48,000.

After this total opened at 44.5 and got to as high as 45, it’s now down to 44. Despite the low number, most William Hill bettors are expecting points in the final NFL Week 10 game. The over is attracting 69% of the total number of tickets and 63% of the total dollars wagered.
