Gold Cup Preview: Latest Odds, Trends for USA vs. Qatar Semifinals

Bet soccer with William Hill, America’s #1 sportsbook.

The United States have been involved in several massive international competitions throughout the week, and now they’re about to play an important match on the pitch today.

USA will face Qatar in the Gold Cup semifinals in Austin, Texas at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT, while defending Gold Cup champion Mexico and Canada square off in the other matchup at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. The four countries will be vying for the two spots in Sunday evening’s final in Las Vegas.

USA has won all four Gold Cup matches so far, with three of them coming by a 1-0 score, including Sunday’s quarterfinal against Jamaica. If USA can be Qatar, it will mark a third straight trip to the final. Mexico beat USA 1-0 back in 2019, while USA triumphed 2-1 over Jamaica in 2017.

When William Hill Nevada first released the 90 minute (plus injury time) odds, USA opened as a -110 favorite, Qatar was +320 and draw was +245. USA reached as high as -115, however they’re now down to even-money odds. Meanwhile, Qatar is listed at +300 and draw is at +230.

William Hill bettors are rolling with the favorite here, as USA has received 78% of the total number of tickets and 80% of the total dollars wagered in three-way betting for this upcoming match. Qatar is second in each category with 17% of the total number of tickets and 14% of the total dollars wagered, whereas draw is at 5% and 6% respectively.

The betting splits are even more lopsided for Mexico vs. Canada. Mexico’s price has actually dropped a bit, going from -200 to -180 while Canada is at +530 from +590 and draw has swung to +300 from +315.

Yet, Mexico is still drawing 87% of the total number of tickets and 94% of the total dollars wagered. Canada and draw are at 3% each for total dollars wagered, then Canada is at 9% for total number of tickets with draw at 4%.
