Total Thursdays: Pro Football Week 8 Odds, Trends for Totals

Bet NFL with William Hill, America’s #1 sportsbook.

After going 7-6-1 in NFL Week 7, unders have now cashed in the majority of NFL games in two consecutive weeks. Yet, it’s overs that still lead the way on the season, as they have a 53-49-3 (51.9%) overall record.

William Hill has 12 Week 8 games currently up, with Chargers vs. Broncos and Buccaneers vs. Giants off the board. A few of the totals are lower than usual, as three games have totals under 44 points. In the past three weeks on Total Thursday (Weeks 5, 6, 7), there has been one such contest.

The lowest total right now is for Patriots vs. Bills, which resides at 41.5. That is the lowest total of any game at William Hill since Broncos vs. Jets at 41 to kick off Week 4’s slate on Thursday night.

Patriots vs. Bills opened at 44.5, meaning the total has already dropped by 3 points. That isn’t even the biggest shift for a total this week. Raiders vs. Browns has gone from 55.5 to 51.5, Packers vs. Vikings has changed from 55 to 51 and Saints vs. Bears has moved from 47 to 43.5, while Rams vs. Dolphins (49 to 46) has gone down by 3 points as well.

Patriots vs. Bills is one of two Week 8 games whose under is receiving the majority of both the total number of tickets (53%) and total dollars wagered (85%). Additionally, the under for Vikings vs. Packers has drawn 56% of the total number of tickets and 96% of the total dollars wagered. Only the under for Saints vs. Bears surpasses Vikings vs. Packers in either category, as that under has reeled in 97% of the total dollars wagered.

The Steelers vs. Ravens over (47) ranks first in total number of tickets at 88%, while that over and the over for 49ers vs. Seahawks (54) are each receiving 79% of the total dollars wagered.

Three $5,500 wagers on Week 8 totals have been placed at William Hill, which are tied for the largest total bets thus far. They’ve come in on Saints vs. Bears under 44.5, Vikings vs. Packers under 54.5 and Falcons vs. Panthers over 51.
