Total Thursdays: Odds, Trends for Pro Football Championship 55

Bet NFL with William Hill, America’s #1 sportsbook.

It’s been a razor-thin differential between overs and unders for the 2020-21 NFL season. Overs finished 126-125-5 (50.2%) in the regular season, and they also have the edge against unders in the postseason at 7-5 (58.3%).

The Super Bowl 55 total opened at 57 at William Hill, and then was slightly bumped up to 57.5. After falling to 57 and 56.5, the latest total change was the Big Game getting switched to 56 on Tuesday.

If Chiefs vs. Buccaneers were to close at 56, it would be tied for the highest 2021 NFL postseason total. The Browns vs. Chiefs AFC Divisional Round matchup also ended up at 56.

The total dropping from its opening number hasn’t deterred William Hill bettors from backing the over. The over has attracted 72% of the total number of tickets and 65% of the total dollars wagered.

The largest Super Bowl 55 total wager taken thus far at William Hill, however, is on the under. A Nevada bettor placed $22,000 on Chiefs vs. Buccaneers under 57 (-110) for a total potential payout of $42,000.

There are several other ways you can bet the Super Bowl 55 total at William Hill. The Chiefs’ team total is currently set at 30, with the over at -130 and the under at +110. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers’ team total is at 27 with the over (-120) a slight favorite over the under (EVEN).

Alternate game total props are also available for Sunday’s championship. The highest alternate total listed is 70.5, with under as sizable -500 chalk and the over at +400. On the other end of the spectrum, the lowest alternate total is 42.5, with the over priced at -700 and the under at +500.

Two $1,000 wagers have come in on alternate totals at William Hill. A Nevada bettor placed $1,000 on Chiefs vs. Buccaneers over 49.5 (-270) for a total potential payout of $1,370.35, while a New Jersey bettor put down $1,000 on Chiefs vs. Buccaneers under 63.5 (-240) for a total potential payout of $1,416.65.

There’s also first-half totals up, including first-half team totals and first-half alternate totals. An Iowa bettor laid $3,500 on Chiefs first-half over 15 (-110) for a total potential payout of $6,681.8.
