Thursday Night Pro Football Preview: Denver vs. New York (AFC)

Two teams will be looking for their first win of the season tonight at 8:20 p.m. ET/5:20 p.m. PT, as the Broncos will take on the Jets from MetLife Stadium.

No Week 4 spread has had a bigger shift than this matchup since William Hill released its opening odds on Sunday night. Denver was originally a 3-point road favorite, however now it’s a pick’em between the two sides. The Jets’ moneyline price has gone from +130 to -110, while the Broncos have swung from -150 to -110 to win outright.

“Denver’s the superior team, but they’re riddled with injuries,” said Nick Bogdanovich, Director of Trading for William Hill US. “To be fair, the Jets are hurting too. These are two teams in horrific shape on Thursday night. It’s fitting that this line is now a pick’em.”

The total has also had some movement, increasing by a point from an opener of 40 to its current number of 41.

Yet, despite the spread moving against them, the Broncos have still received the majority of support from William Hill bettors.

Denver has captured 63% of the total number of tickets and 55% of the total dollars wagered among all spread bets against the Jets. Additionally, the Broncos have generated 69% of the total number of tickets and 61% of the total dollars wagered among all moneyline wagers for tonight.

The biggest spread bet for TNF thus far at William Hill, though, is on New York. A Nevada bettor placed $5,500 on Jets -1 (-110) for a total potential payout of $21,000.

William Hill bettors are more split regarding the total. While the under has brought in 51% of the total number of tickets, the over has the advantage with 69% of the total dollars wagered. That is highlighted by the biggest wager for the game as of now at William Hill, as another Nevada bettor placed $11,000 on Broncos vs. Jets over 40 (-110) for a total potential payout of $21,000.

“We’re a little high on the over, but that’s normal for a standalone game,” Bogdanovich said. “Also, seemingly every NFL matchup has been a high-scoring game. So no big surprise regarding the action on the total here.”
