Pro Football Week 3: Odds, Trends, Notable Bets

Last Friday, there were two teams getting at least 90% in both of the total number of tickets and the total dollars wagered in their Week 2 matchups: Chiefs (-9) at Chargers and Bills (-5.5) at Dolphins. A third team also was surpassing 90% of the total number of tickets at that time: 49ers (-7) at Jets.

In Week 3, the spreads are smaller, as just the Colts (-11.5 vs. Jets) and Browns (-7 vs. Washington) are favored by 7 points or more compared to having seven favorites of at least a touchdown last Friday.

Not coincidentally, William Hill bettors appear to be much more split on the games. Zero teams are at the 90% mark for total number of tickets and only the Titans (-3 at Vikings) are above 90% in total dollars wagered at 93%.

Week 3 features several strong matchups, though, highlighted by two clashes between 2-0 teams: Chiefs at Ravens on Monday night and Rams at Bills early Sunday afternoon.

The Chiefs were favored in the previous two Patrick Mahomes vs. Lamar Jackson showdowns, however the Ravens covered both times despite losing each one. Now, Baltimore is a 3.5-point favorite at home over Kansas City, yet William Hill bettors are siding with the Super Bowl champions in prime time.

The Chiefs are getting 68% of the total number of tickets and 58% of the total dollars wagered among all spread bets against the Ravens. That makes Kansas City one of three Week 3 underdogs to receive both the majority of the total number of tickets and total dollars wagered, joining the Bengals (+4.5 at Eagles) and Packers (+3 at Saints).

In the other head-to-head between undefeated teams, William Hill bettors are more divided. The Rams have captured 63% of the total number of tickets, while the Bills have edge in total dollars wagered at 53%. Yet he line has moved in favor of Los Angeles, as it dropped half a point to Rams +2.5 from +3.

Regarding noteworthy wagers, the Titans have drawn the two largest Week 3 spread bets thus far at William Hill in their battle against the winless Vikings. One Nevada bettor put $24,000 on Titans -2.5 (-110) for a total potential payout of $45,818.20 and another Nevada bettor put $11,000 on Titans -2.5 (-110) for a total potential payout of $21,000.

The biggest overall wager has come in on the biggest Week 3 favorite. A William Hill Iowa bettor placed $52,000 on Colts -700 moneyline against the Jets for a total potential payout of $59,428.55.
