Pro Football Odds: What Week 1 Spreads Have Shifted Early On?

Bet NFL with William Hill, America’s #1 sportsbook.

NFL Week 1 odds have been up for just a day at William Hill, yet there’s already been spread shifts on more than half of the games on the board. In fact, one line has moved by 1.5 points early on.

Of the nine spreads that have already experienced movement at William Hill Nevada, seven of them have swung in the direction of the favorite.

That includes the opening contest of the 2021-22 season between the Buccaneers and Cowboys. After Tampa Bay opened as a 6-point home favorite, the reigning Super Bowl champions are now up to -6.5.

One team laying even more has also been bet up by half a point. The 49ers were originally 7-point road chalk over the Lions. After getting bumped up to -7.5, San Francisco is currently the biggest Week 1 favorite at William Hill.

Two battles between teams that made the playoffs last season have also shifted slightly. With all the uncertainty surrounding star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Packers have gone from +1.5 to +2.5 against the Saints in New Orleans. Meanwhile in an interconference clash, the Colts are at -2.5 after first being listed at -2 against the Seahawks.

“If [Aaron] Rodgers is in, Green Bay will be the favorite,” said Nick Bogdanovich, Director of Trading for William Hill US. “If he’s out, this line will be much higher. So it’s sort of sitting in the middle, trying to wait and see what happens. We did take a notable bet on New Orleans moneyline -125, and we went to -140 there.”

The three other spreads that have moved up slightly are Jaguars (-2 to -2.5) at Texans, Jets at Panthers (-3.5 to -4) and Vikings (-2.5 to -3) at Bengals.

Conversely, two home underdogs have gotten some early love, including one having fans for the first time ever at its stadium in a prime-time affair.

The Raiders opened as the second-biggest home underdog in Week 1 at +5.5 against the Ravens—with only Lions originally getting more points in front of their faithful at +7 vs. the 49ers. Las Vegas is currently displayed at +4, a swing of 1.5 points and the biggest move so far for any Week 1 game.

Washington is the other team getting fewer points than what it opened at. The Chargers were 2-point road favorites in our nation’s capital, and now Los Angeles is -1.5 for its cross-country showdown. Of the five Week 1 home underdogs, Washington is the only one that made the playoffs last season.
