Preseason Football: Latest Odds, Trends for Friday’s Four Games

We just have one more week of preseason before the NFL regular season begins, as the first batch of contests takes place tonight.

William Hill Nevada has odds posted for all four of Friday’s showdowns, as we’ll see players fight for roster spots in the final tune-up before the games really count.

The spread has moved in the direction of all four home teams, however have any road teams caught the attention of William Hill bettors?

The first game on the docket is Colts vs. Lions, which is set to start at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT from Detroit. The Lions are the only home underdog in tonight’s action, though they’ve swung from opening at +3.5 to now at +2.

The majority of the total number of tickets and total dollars wagered are on opposite teams for the spread. The Colts have generated 68% of the total number of tickets, yet the Lions have gathered 89% of the total dollars wagered.

One New Jersey bettor has put a notable wager on Detroit to win this affair outright, as $15,000 was staked on Lions moneyline +110 for a total potential payout of $31,500. That is the biggest bet taken thus far for any of tonight’s four preseason clashes.

There are two battles on at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT: Eagles at Jets and Steelers at Panthers. Both of these spreads have also shifted by 1.5 points in the direction of the host, with the Jets moving from -4 to -5.5 and the Panthers springing up to -4 from -2.5.

The Jets are drawing 62% of the total number of tickets and 77% of the total dollars wagered among all spread bets vs. the Eagles. Then despite the line dropping, the Steelers are the only road team as of now that William Hill bettors are siding with against the spread. Pittsburgh has nabbed 73% of the total number of tickets and 78% of the total dollars wagered vs. Carolina.

The final kickoff of the day is between the Vikings and Chiefs at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NFL Network. While this game has had the smallest spread shift (Chiefs -4 to -4.5) of tonight’s slate, it does feature the biggest total movement (35.5 to 38).

Kansas City is also the most lopsided spread bet of Friday’s action. The Chiefs have commanded a whopping 91% of the total number of tickets and 90% of the total dollars wagered against the Vikings.
