Playoff Preview: Odds, Trends for Islanders-Lightning G5

Bet NHL with William Hill, America’s #1 sportsbook.

All four NHL teams left in the Stanley Cup Playoffs are just six victories away from getting to lift and skate with the most famous trophy in sports.

Both current series—Lightning vs. Islanders and Golden Knights vs. Canadiens—are knotted at two games apiece, as pivotal Game 5s await.

The Islanders are coming off a thrilling 3-2 triumph in Game 4 against the Lightning, keyed by a last-second blocked shot by defenseman Ryan Pulock.

These two foes also squared off with a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals on the line last year, with Tampa Bay prevailing four games to two in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Now the defending Stanley Cup champion Lightning return to Tampa Bay and will try to gain a 3-2 series lead in front of their home fans. Game 5 is slated for an 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. start time on NBCSN.

The Lightning opened at -185, and are now up to -190 on the moneyline against the Islanders (+170 ML). The total for this one is at 5, with the over favored at -135 and the under at +115.

The majority of the tickets and dollars are on opposite sides for the moneyline. The Lightning have the advantage with 60% of the total number of tickets, whereas the Islanders have captured 81% of the total dollars wagered.

That is highlighted by one New Jersey bettor who laid $50,000 on Islanders ML +165 for a total potential payout of $132,500, the largest Islanders vs. Lightning Game 5 wager taken thus far at William Hill.

There’s more alignment on the total, as the over has received 59% of the total number of tickets and 65% of the total dollars wagered.

One Lightning star is also the current favorite to receive the Conn Smythe Trophy (Stanley Cup Playoffs MVP) at William Hill Nevada. Goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy is leading the way at +225, followed by Golden Knights netminder Marc-Andre Fleury at +300 and Lightning winger Nikita Kucherov at +600. Last year’s recipient, Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman, is listed at 40/1.
