NHL Tuesday Slate Preview: Odds, Trends for Key Games

Bet NHL with William Hill, America’s #1 sportsbook.

It’s quality over quantity tonight in the NHL. There are only five games on tap, but big-time matchups headline the slate—including a showdown between two of the top teams in the league.

Let’s start with the marquee matchup of the night: Avalanche at Golden Knights. Vegas is the current favorite at William Hill to win the 2021 Stanley Cup at +550, followed by Colorado at +650. The Golden Knights have raced out to a 10-2-1 record on the season and are atop the West Division with 21 points. Meanwhile, the Avalanche are 6 points behind in the standings at 7-4-1.

These two foes square off in Sin City at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. Vegas is a slight -115 favorite on the moneyline. Colorado is -105 to emerge victorious, and the total for this one sits at 5.5. The majority of William Hill bettors are aligned in this clash, as the Golden Knights have received 62% of the total number of tickets and 65% of the total dollars wagered. Additionally, the over has captured 68% of the total number of tickets and 56% of the total dollars wagered.

At 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, the Capitals face the Penguins in Pittsburgh. The two East Division rivals both have accumulated 15 points in 13 games, and are tied for fourth in the standings. The Penguins opened as -125 home favorites, and slightly crept up to -130. The Capitals are now at +110, as they hope to snap their four-game losing streak. The total is at 6.5, which is the highest one on the board for tonight’s action.

William Hill bettors are divided here, with the Penguins have the edge in total number of tickets at 52% and the Capitals owning the advantage in total dollars wagered at 73%. The over, however, has been a more popular wager, as it has seized 76% of the total number of tickets and 94% of the total dollars wagered.

Another East Coast battle taking place earlier in the night is Devils at Rangers. The Devils have not played since Jan. 31 after several players were placed on the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol-related absences list. New Jersey is also tied for the biggest moneyline underdog of the night at +115, while the Rangers are currently listed at -135.

Will the Devils be a bit rusty following their pause? William Hill bettors think so, as the Rangers have gotten 78% of the total number of tickets and 88% of the total dollars wagered.
