NBA Futures: Two Players Shoot Up Rookie of the Year Board

Bet NBA with William Hill, America’s #1 sportsbook.

After being drafted two weeks ago, the NBA’s future stars are already showcasing their skills for their new teams in the NBA Summer League out in Las Vegas.

William Hill Nevada not only has NBA Rookie of the Year futures posted, but NBA Summer League futures as well. Who says you can’t get in on hoops action in August?

Cade Cunningham was the top pick in the 2021 NBA draft, and he’s also atop the board for Rookie of the Year odds. The Pistons guard leads the way at +250, followed by No. 2 selection and Rockets wing Jalen Green at +450. Green has been the most popular Rookie of the Year bet thus far at William Hill, notching 30% of the total number of tickets and 24% of the total dollars wagered.

The No. 3 pick and Cavaliers big man Evan Mobley has the third-lowest odds at +550, with No. 5 pick and Magic guard Jalen Suggs nearby at +800. Three more lottery picks are next: Scottie Barnes (10/1), Davion Mitchell (12/1) and James Bouknight (18/1). One Nevada bettor laid $1,000 on Mitchell back when he opened at 15/1 for a total potential payout of $16,000.

The first non-lottery pick displayed is Rockets center Alperen Sengun, as he’s at 20/1 along with Jonathan Kuminga and Chris Duarte.

Sengun and Duarte have been the most notable movers thus far, as each opened at 50/1 before dropping to their current number. Another Nevada bettor put $560 on Sengun at 50/1 for a total potential payout of $28,560. Duarte has drawn noteworthy action too, as an Illinois bettor put $500 on him at 50/1 and another $500 on him at 30/1 for a total potential payout of $41,000.

After Josh Giddey at 25/1, Bulls guard Ayo Dosunmu has the lowest odds of any second-round pick at 30/1—where he is also joined by Franz Wagner. Meanwhile, of all the players listed, the first-round picks that are the biggest longshots are Indiana’s Isaiah Jackson, Houston’s Usman Garuba and New Orleans’ Trey Murphy III at 80/1.

For Summer League odds, the Trail Blazers are the current favorites at +300. Portland opened at 10/1, which was tied for the second-lowest odds with the Knicks (now 50/1). Those two trailed the Pistons, who started at +800 and are now off the board after an 0-2 start to Summer League.

Rounding out the top five in current Summer League odds are the Rockets (+500), Heat (+500), Celtics (+550) and Jazz (+550).
