The battle for the most prestigious trophy in sports is heating up on the ice, as several contenders vie to capture the 2020 Stanley Cup.
The Boston Bruins lead all teams with 98 points on the NHL season heading into the March 9 games, and the Bruins have the second-lowest title odds at 6/1. Many bettors, however, have shifted their attention in a different direction with who they think will lift Lord Stanley’s Cup in June.
The current favorite to win it all at William Hill is the Vegas Golden Knights at 5/1. The Golden Knights have brought in the highest percentage of total number of tickets at 10% in addition to 10% of the total dollars wagered. Vegas only trails the Washington Capitals (9/1) regarding the latter, as the Caps have attracted 14% of the total dollars wagered. Washington has captured 7% of the total number of tickets, which is the second-highest mark of any team.
The Bruins have gotten 6% apiece for the total number of tickets (third) and total dollars wagered (fifth). The Tampa Bay Lightning (13/2) and Colorado Avalanche (17/2) round up the top five in both categories.
The St. Louis Blues had a memorable Stanley Cup run last year, yet despite having the fourth-lowest odds at 8/1, they aren’t drawing as much interest as the other top teams to take the trophy home this time around. The Blues have received 4% of the total number of tickets along with 3% of the total dollars wagered.
