College Basketball Tip-Off: Odds for Opening Day Slate

Bet college basketball with William Hill, America’s #1 sportsbook.

The college basketball season is finally here, as we have wire-to-wire action across the country. William Hill has odds up for over 50 games on this slate, including six games involving top-10 teams.

While the first game of the season tipped off already at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT between East Tennessee State and Abilene Christian, the first contest featuring a top-10 team is slated for a 1:30 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT start.

Defending national champion and No. 4-ranked Virginia is currently a 19-point favorite over Towson. The total for that game resides at 121.5, which is the lowest on the board of any game today.

Virginia is a sizable favorite, however four top-10 teams are laying even more points in their season openers today. No. 8 Illinois is a 28-point favorite over North Carolina AT&T, No. 5 Iowa is 26.5-point chalk over North Carolina Central, No. 10 Kentucky is -25 against Morehead State and No. 7 Wisconsin is a 20.5-point favorite against Eastern Illinois.

There’s only team that’s an even bigger favorite than Illinois today at William Hill: Marquette is 30-point chalk in its battle with Arkansas Pine Bluff.

The shortest line of any game involving a top-10 team belongs to the showdown between No. 3 Villanova and Boston College. The Wildcats are 14-point favorites over the Eagles in that one.

One notable wager thus far that has come in for this slate is one New Jersey bettor placing a $25,000 parlay on Illinois -27.5 and Xavier -16.5 against Oakland. The total potential payout for that bet is $91,115.70.
