It was a wild Wednesday of conference tournaments in college hoops. There were incredible game-winning shots in the final seconds and upsets that could shape who makes the tournament. In case you missed any of the action, here were the biggest storylines from the betting world.
Biggest Upsets:
California (+450) over Stanford
Washington State (+325) over Colorado
DePaul (+250) over Xavier
Craziest Betting Wins:
Clemson was a 4-point favorite over Miami (FL), and the Tigers held a 10-point lead with 30 seconds left. A couple Miami threes and Clemson turnovers saw the Hurricanes have a chance to cut it to a one-possession game at the free-throw line with 12 seconds left. Miami, however, missed both attempts to leave it at a four-point deficit. One Clemson free throw and one missed Miami three-pointer later, and Tigers bettors prevailed thanks to a five-point win.
The first-half total for Georgia and Ole Miss was at 68, and the Bulldogs led the 38-30 as the final seconds were playing out before the break. After the Rebels missed a jumper, Georgia’s Sahvir Wheeler collected the rebound, dribbled to halfcourt and drilled a miraculous shot to give OVER bettors a nice payday.
It wasn’t the greatest start for those who took St. John’s -3.5 vs. Georgetown. The Red Storm trailed by as many as 15 points in the second half and were down 62-52 after a Terrell Allen layup for the Hoyas with 6:30 left. Following that bucket, though, Georgetown couldn’t weather the Storm. St. John’s scored the game’s final 25 points, winning by a final score of 75-62.
