What to Watch With William Hill: Biggest Sports Events Week of August 17

We’re midway through August, yet there’s still plenty of exciting happenings in the world of sports left, including several this week. Let’s highlight them below.

NBA Playoffs

Sixteen teams remain in Orlando, as the eight best in the Eastern and Western Conferences start their first-round series today. The Bucks and Lakers are the No. 1 seeds in their respective conferences, while the defending champion Raptors are the No. 2 seed in the East. Make sure to watch all the playoff action from Orlando all week long.

PGA Tour

The three-week FedEx Cup playoffs begins this week at the Northern Trust in Norton, Massachusetts. The top-125 ranked golfers in the world will tee off on Thursday, with only 70 moving on to next week’s BMW Championship. After that, the final 30 will compete for a $15 million prize at the Tour Championship. Last year’s winner Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods will each be aiming for their third title.

Champions League

One team will be crowned this Sunday, as four of the top soccer clubs in the world are just two wins away from capturing the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League. On Tuesday, RB Leipzig takes on Paris Saint-Germain in the first semifinal. On Wednesday, tournament favorite Bayern Munich faces Lyon. From there, the two teams that advance will battle on Sunday for all the marbles.

Indy 500

The 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 takes place this weekend. The 33-car field features each of the past four winners of the storied race—Simon Pagenaud, Will Power, Takuma Sato and Alexander Rossi. Catch the excitement from the Brickyard this Sunday.
