2020 Pro Baseball Home Run Leader: Latest Odds, Trends

Opening Day for Major League Baseball is just three days away, and William Hill is getting you ready for the upcoming 2020 season until then with the latest odds and trends from various futures markets.

Let’s look at 2020 regular season home run leader first, as 75 players have odds posted. All teams must play a minimum of 58 regular season games this upcoming campaign for action, meaning all bets will be refunded if any team plays in 57 or fewer contests.

Additionally, if there’s a tie atop the HR leaderboard, payout odds will be divided by the number of players who finished in first.

Angels superstar outfielder Mike Trout opened as the 12/1 favorite to lead the league in home runs for the first time in his career, with last year’s home run champion Pete Alonso close behind at 13/1.

Trout is still currently 12/1 at William Hill, however he’s joined by a new name atop the board as well. Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado has gone from from 22/1 to 12/1, one of the most notable odds shifts in the home run leader market. Alonso has remained at 13/1.

Yet, the biggest change belongs to Reds third baseman Eugenio Suarez. After opening at 40/1, Suarez now has the fifth-lowest odds at 15/1—only behind Trout, Arenado, Alonso and Aaron Judge (14/1).

One Nevada bettor put down $1,000 on Suarez back when he was priced at 40/1 for a total potential payout of $41,000. That is the largest total potential payout for a 2020 home run leader bet as of now at William Hill.

Suarez leads all batters in total dollars wagered for this market at 16%. Promising Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez is next at 11%, followed by Arenado at 9% and Alonso at 8%.

Alonso does rank first, though, in total number of tickets at 8%. NL East rival and Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper comes after at 7%, while four other hitters are at 4%: Cody Bellinger (16/1), Jorge Soler (35/1), Miguel Sano (70/1) and Kyle Schwarber (80/1).

Check out William Hill’s latest trends as well as the 30 players with the lowest odds below for 2020 MLB regular season home run leader, which is available to bet in Nevada, New Jersey and Iowa.
