Entertainment value of wagering on NFL is at peak

BY JIMMY VACCARO

Taking your wife and two kids to a movie will put you in the ballpark of $75 in doing your patriotic duties.

Trying to put yourself on your first date in the express lane, you got to go for at least two “beans” at a high end restaurant in order to cross the goal line.

A two teamer using Ravens-Broncos linked to Seahawks-Falcons – priceless!

Seattle Seahawks are NFL’s new darling

BY JIMMY VACCARO

If you were in any sports book this weekend you witnessed the power of the NFL. Wild Card weekend is an understatement.

Schedule sticking out of back pockets with a beer or hot dog in your free hand and adding commentary after each play. We have a good mix of old standards and an added new twist to even make it busier if we can physically fit everyone in.

Stocking stuffers for sports bettors

BY JIMMY VACCARO

No matter how many times you will hear it in the next week, take it easy over the holidays.

They will be playing the national anthem every day. It sounds good but the vast majority will placate then run to nearest book and play a three teamer to make the dessert taste better.

NFL results take me back to square one

BY JIMMY VACCARO

Booking the last few weeks of the NFL are usually a pain in the backside, but this year is quite different. Even with a few teams clinching there is a lot to play for.

This in turn allows you to post games, knowing no one will ease up or come into next week’s game without a purpose. Teams in the mix will play hard and the ones outside looking in will try and knock someone out – playing for a new contract if in the final year of a deal.

Action worth my wait in Las Vegas

This past weekend only shows how the dynamic of “down time” has changed in the last three or so decades in Las Vegas.

Black Friday is over. How did you fare?

Did you get all the bargains you wanted at the window or are you looking to return some items? Whatever the case, you saw longer lines in the books than you saw at Target or any other chain.

Toast to Dallas Cowboys 1974, Clint Longley

BY JIMMY VACCARO

We won’t see Alex Karras chasing Bart Starr around or Clint Longley replacing an injured Roger Staubach in 1974 with the Cowboys trailing the George Allen Redskins 23-3 in the middle of the third quarter.

It was that memorable Thanksgiving game in Dallas when Longley hit Drew Pearson with a 50 yard TD catch with 28 seconds left to put this one into one of the best Turkey Day games ever. Cowboys, 24-23.

We welcome NCAA college basketball betting with open arms

BY JIMMY VACCARO

Everyone is trying to dissect where the BCS goes from here with the Crimson Tide taking a November exit from the big game. Not to worry as there are some marquee teams playing on Monday.

We have Georgia, West Virginia and even the giant killers Texas A&M coming back for a Monday niter. Only trouble is the ball will be rounder and they will be playing on wood as opposed to grass and turf.
